“Creativity is as important now in education as literacy and we should treat it with the same status.”

The Children’s Good Deed of the Year

detskycin-logoSasha Petrovicka-Broadhurst and Sasha Fischerova created and launched The Children’s Good Deed of the Year project in Slovakia over 15 years ago. Sasha Petrovicka-Broadhurst still leads the organization today – over 1,5 million children in Slovakia have participated in the program.

In 2012 the non-profit organization was officially established to further the project in gratitude to and loving memory of Sasha Fischerova. Her exceptionally charismatic personality left a lasting trace in the project. Thank you, Saška!

By participating in The Children’s Good Deed of the Year project children learn through the true stories of other children about what is right, how to help, how to support others, and how to protect people and nature. The project motivates children and youth to do good deeds, help them distinguish honorable
values and gives them a chance to understand more about real human values and experiences.
Every good deed is a great feat. Children know it and they make our world a better place.

In 2019, we are running the 19th year of the project.

KEY TOPICS: These are some of the different categories of good deeds that the children submit stories about, learn from, and vote on. Teachers in participating schools are our partners in sharing the Good Deed stories:
